En la Maestría de Ciencia de Datos de la Universidad Ricardo Palma aprobada en el 2016, se presentan las técnicas para aprender de los datos con el objetivo de predecir y obtener conocimiento útil. Las fases del proceso de ciencia de datos: obtención, limpieza, muestreo, administración de los datos de manera eficiente y efectiva, análisis exploratorio para generar hipótesis a partir de la intuición ganada, predicción en base a modelos estadísticos, probabilísticas y de aprendizaje de máquina y la comunicación de los resultados son presentados a lo largo de la maestría como clases, talleres y seminarios a cargo de expertos que ya están iniciando y/o realizando ciencia de datos en sus centros laborales nacionales e internacionales, a través de los cuales, el estudiante no solo verá a profundidad los temas tratados en cada uno de los cursos del Plan de Estudios, sino que se le ayudará a vincularse con proyectos en la empresa para aplicar sus aprendizajes.

En el año 2014, en la Universidad Ricardo Palma, a través del Rectorado, a iniciativa de un
grupo de profesionales se inició el dictado de Diplomados, Programas de Especialización y
cursos relacionados con la estadística y ciencia de datos. Los alumnos participantes eran
profesionales de diversas áreas: estadística, informática, ingeniería, economía, entre otras.
En el año 2016, por primera vez en el Perú, gracias a la gestión de la coordinadora Dra. Roque, el Rectorado y la dirección académica del Dr. Kraenau se logró crear la primera Maestría en Ciencia de los Datos (MCD) en la Universidad Ricardo Palma.
